A Statement of Beauty I have been fortunate to travel to India several times now and am always impressed with the extraordinary designs and quality of Indian jewelry. I was especially blown away by the response of my friends and family when I gave them gifts of jewelry as well as the attention I received from people when I wore these bold pieces. When I returned to India I brought even more jewelry back home. Shortly after finishing a graduate program in journalism I was struck with the idea of creating my own business. I wanted women to enjoy the wonderful and powerful feeling of wearing these beautiful pieces. Inspiration Alexandra Imports is a tribute to everything that I enjoy in life: travel, creativity, beauty, journalism, adventure and Indian culture. My fascination with India began with my dad's life mission to go see the Taj Mahal and I was fortunate to be invited as his traveling companion. India was, and still is, one of the most fabulous places I have ever been with an incredible array of people, landscape, culture, artistry and day-to-day existences. The rich smells, the colorful saris, the chaos of the markets and the serenity of the Himalayas are all images that will stay with me for a lifetime as I continue to cultivate a relationship with this vast country. My Mission I'd like to think that the jewelry of Alexandra Imports embodies a piece of the fascinating location of Jaipur, India and that the recipients of this jewelry feel empowered by the rich cultural context of each piece. It feels only natural to give something back to the place where this jewelry originates as well as foster change in my own community. Alexandra Imports has forged a relationship with two nonprofits, one in India and one in the Pacific Northwest, and will give 5% of the company's profits back to both organizations.
